JOY LYN’S CANDIES “BEAR PAW” CONFECTION HELPS RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS FOR THE YELLOWSTONE KELLY HERITAGE TRAIL IN PARADISE

Joy Lyn’s Candies owners, Bill and Pam Hartley, are leading the effort in Paradise to recognize the achievements of forgotten hero Luther Sage “Yellowstone Kelly”.  Yellowstone Kelly was a respected historical American soldier of 3 wars, hunter, trapper, scout and adventurer who spent the last decade of his life living in Paradise.  He loved the Paradise area and became an orchardist raising olives, peaches and apples on the Ridge. Kelly was also a trusted friend of Teddy Roosevelt and led expeditions during the Alaskan Gold Rush and mapped much of the Yellowstone area in Montana.  Joy Lyn’s owners are working with the local Paradise Gold Nugget Museum to highlight Kelly’s contributions to history with a Heritage Trail in Paradise as well as a museum exhibit featuring the life and contributions of Yellowstone Kelly.  Bill Hartley developed a “Bear Paw” confection to help raise awareness and funds ($1 from each sale go to the Museum). The candy piece resembles a bear paw that Kelly once used as his calling card with his initials carved into it.
